SB 167                                                                                                                        
The following, which was advanced to third reading from the April 17,                                                           
2014, calendar (page 2557), was read the third time:                                                                            
                                                                                                                                
    SENATE BILL NO. 167                                                                                                         
    "An Act relating to the maximum amount of uninsured and                                                                     
    underinsured coverage payable under multiple motor vehicle                                                                  
    insurance policies issued by the same insurer in the same                                                                   
    household."                                                                                                                 
                                                                                                                                
Representative Gruenberg moved and asked unanimous consent that                                                                 
SB 167 be returned to second reading for the specific purpose of                                                                
considering Amendment No. 1.  There being no objection, it was so                                                               
ordered.                                                                                                                        
                                                                                                                                
Amendment No. 1 was offered  by Representatives Gruenberg and

Page 3, following line 28:                                                                                                      
    Insert a new bill section to read:                                                                                          
"* Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by                                                            
adding a new section to read:                                                                                                   
    TRANSITION. (a) The changes to AS 28.20.445(c) and                                                                          
AS 28.22.221 made by this Act apply to policies issued or renewed on                                                            
or after the effective date of this Act.                                                                                        
    (b)  For policies issued before the effective date of this Act, if the                                                      
maximum amount payable under AS 28.20.445(c) or AS 28.22.221                                                                    
will change upon renewal, the insurer must notify the insured of the                                                            
change in writing before renewal."
